How To FAST Travel In Dragon's Dogma 2

How to fast travel in Dragon’s Dogma 2, the new open world RPG by Capcom. In Dragon’s Dogma 2 So you can spend lots of your gameplay just walking from town to town, or going out to a quest location and then back to town. So today, lets go over all of the fast travel systems available, and their limitations. With portcrystals, single use ferrystones and wagons that only travel to certain places it can be a little confusing, so lets break it down.

How To Fast Travel Dragon's Dogma 2

Ferrystones

You first and easiest way to fast travel, is ferrystones. These are single use items that allow you to teleport to a previously unlocked portcrystals. Now because these are single use items, you can’t just fast travel freely. You need to just use them when you are far from home, or need to teleport across the map.

There are multiple ways to obtain a ferrystone:

  • As quest rewards
  • In chests in the open world
  • Purchased from traders for 10,000g

So be sure to check everywhere for these, I personally buy every one I see and still want more.

Town Portcrystals

If you want to know how to fast travel in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you need to making sure you are unlocking  portcrystals. These are the big purple crystals inside towns. You just go find them and click on them to activate them. And they form part of your network of crystals you can then fast travel to. Unfortunately lots of the places on the map don’t have one of these. Its just major towns.

If you want to see more of where all these portcrystals are found, check out the new Dragon’s Dogma 2 interactive map.

Portable Portcrystals

There is an additional way to get these fast travel with ferrystones. There are portcrystals you can get as rewards into your inventory. For example you get them during the main quest and you get one for finishing the archer legendary weapon skill. But basically once you receive these inventory portcrystals you can place them in the world. And create a place you can then teleport to.

Dragon's Dogma 2 Portcrystals

So if you travel regularly to an area that doesn’t have a crystal, such as the elf town in the north, you can drop a portcrystal there to add it to the network. Then can teleport back there with a ferrystone at a later date. And they can picked back up too.

I don’t know why they made this all so complex and restrictive, but using these crystals should at least help make the world feel more accessible.

How To Use Oxcarts In Dragon's Dogma 2

Next up, if you’re trying to find how to fast travel in Dragon’s Dogma 2, its worth understanding how the oxcarts work. This isn’t exactly fast travel, but oxcarts are a great way to travel between cities. Again this is kind of restrictive too, in that you can’t just pick a city and go there. There are certain carts in certain locations that move between each other. For example in Vernworth there are 2 oxcarts, one in north takes you to Melve and back, and the one in the west takes you to the checkpoint rest town.

After you progress into the main quests in Vernworth, speak to Donnovan near the oxcart to start a quest to learn about and take your first trip. And if the oxcart isn’t there you click the little sign post to pass time until it arrives. You pay the fee for the trip and then jump in the back and sit down. You can also skip time here and wake up at your destination. If the cart is attacked mid-transport you will just wake up then to help them fight.

But yeah that’s it, the main ways to fast travel around the world in dragon’s dogma 2. I personally think its way too restrictive and you spent too much time just walking around, but hopefully this at least helps you get started and work out some easy ways to get around and plan your adventures.
