Dragon's Dogma 2 Starting Vocations

There are four Dragon’s Dogma 2 Starting Vocations, you can unlock more advanced Vocations later down the line while travelling through the story. The four vocations you can choose from the character creation menu are quite simple but after gaining a few levels you can unlock more skills and abilities

Dragon's Dogma 2 Starting Vocations

Vocations

Fighter

Fighter wields both a sword and shield, having the shield allows them to be more tankier and able to protect their allies. This vocation will act more as a front line and tank than your big burst damage dealer.

Archer

Archer is the physical ranged vocation for Dragon’s Dogma 2, this is a full ranged class that uses the bow and arrow. This vocation is more on the dex side as some of the skills include dashes and gap closers.

Thief

Thief can be a very fun vocation as they wield two melee weapons. This is a full damage class where the skills can be used for fast attacks, gap closers, and hitting weak spots of the enemies.

Mage

The mage vocation has a lot of utility and support, they do seem to be a lot more squishy compared to the other vocations but deal big damage and give your party members heals and buffs.

How to swap Vocations in Dragon's Dogma 2?

You can easily swap vocations at any time in Dragon’s Dogma 2 but this needs to be done at a town. You will also need to unlock the other vocations to be able to access them. You can unlock the other starting vocations at the very first town by talking to the owner of the inn that you come across at the very early start of the game.

Questions

What is max rank for Vocations?

The max rank you can level your vocations is rank 9.

How to level Vocations?

Your vocation level will passively level over time while you are currently set to that vocation and progressing through quests. If you are currently not set to that vocation then you will not gain any experience for that class.

Can my pawn change Vocations?

Yes, you can change your pawn’s vocation at the inn.

What is the strongest Vocation?

The starting vocations are pretty balanced, they all have their own strengths and weaknesses. They do have fairly different playstyles so it’s best to play what you feel most comfortable with.
