Free the Magistrate - Dragon's Dogma 2

There are a few interesting quests that require you to be a bit more sneaky, this guide will help you through Free the Magistrate in Dragon’s Dogma 2. This quest specifically can cause guard aggro bugs and can be difficult to de-aggro the whole of Vernworth.

Safest and Fastest way to complete Free the Magistrate

Baldwin's Estate

First, locate Baldwin’s Estate in the Noble Quarter District. This is a fairly safe place where you will not be counted as trespassing at night.

Go up the stairs and into the furthest room, turn right towards the glass door, and reach the balcony.  On your left you will be able to jump onto the roof of the building to then get through the wall.

Sneaking past the guards in Dragon's Dogma 2

After reaching this tunnel through the wall, you will want to first go right and open the chest to obtain the Marcher’s Armour Set. This is very important for this quest as you cannot avoid the guards in the gaol and this set is used as a disguise to get past them.

Now head down the tunnel till you find the ladder going up. Once you reach the top of the ladder you will be met by an NPC, this NPC will interact with you and is expecting you.  Head into the building next to this NPC and down the spiral stairs into the gaol.

Marcher's Attire

Make sure you have the Marcher’s Attire fully equipped and you will not alert the guards inside the gaol area. Look for a fairly large room and you will see all of the gaol cells.

The guards will not stop you from opening the cell with the gaol key to free the magistrate in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

How to Free the Magistrate

The Magistrate will refuse to go with you after interacting with him. You will now need to find a safe refuge before the Magistrate agrees to go with you.

To complete this next stage you will need to complete the Finding Malcolm quest which starts in the Slums.
