Baldur's Gate 3 Astarian Baldur’s Gate 3 has 3 main Acts, and this is where they start and end with a little spoilers as possible:

Act 1: is the beginning of the game and the initial map where you start on the beach. It also includes 2 additional maps, which are the paths you choose – the mount pass and the underdark. You can also do both paths in one playthough.

Act 2: This act begins in the shadow area, and ends when you receive the message saying there is no going back. You will know when you are here, as it a part of the main story and will flag as soon as you try to enter the pool.

How long is each act in Baldurs Gate 3

If you’re looking to power through the game as fast as possible, completing only the main story, and not touching a single side quest. Based on our playthroughs, you would be looking at around 55-60 hours across all three acts

However each act is different in side, mixed with different side quests, secrets and rewards. Check out this full list of Baldur’s Gate 3 side quests to see just how much content is spread among the 3 acts. So here is how long you should expect to spend in each Act, if you’re looking to play Baldur’s Gate normally and take on a wide range of different things:

Act 1: 50 hours

Act 1 is the beginning of the game, there is tons of set up and story telling, and you don’t have the skills to clear enemies fast. Act 1 also has the most open world maps and side activity of the whole game, so this is easily the biggest part of the game where you can spend the most time.

Act 2: 30 hours

Act 2 is significantly shorter than Act 1, with less maps and less side quests. This part of the game is more linear, where most quests can be obtained and completed fairly fast. You should expect around 30 hours to play through all of Act 2 and still be able to take on most side content.

Act 3: 45 hours

Act 3 is the big finale. It includes Baldur’s Gate a huge city filled with quests, shops and hidden content. It is also where lots of your big side quests will come to a grand ending. So expect lots time here tying up loose ends and completing companion quests. This could take anywhere from 40-60 hours, depending on how many sidequests you bring from the earlier acts into Act 3, and how you choose to tackle the bosses and endings.
