Baldur's Gate 3 Multiclass Guide

Baldur’s Gate 3 Multiclass feature lets you take on 2 different classes at the same time. Letting you level up as 2 different classes simultaneously.

With a max level of 12, this means rather than being a level 12 Barbarian, you might choose to be multiclass and mix those levels up, for example:

  • Half barbarian (6 levels), Half rogue (6 levels).
  • Mostly a barbarian (10 levels), with some rogue (level 2) skills for stealth and sneaks.
  • Or mostly Rogue (8 levels) with some barbarian (4 levels) for weapon skills or rage.

And by multiclassing you can make some really fun and interesting builds. So lets break down how the Baldur’s Gate 3 Multiclass system works, how to make your first hybrid character and some tips for builds and character along the way.

How To Multiclass in Baldur's Gate 3

You can multiclass in Baldur’s Gate 3 once you reach level 2. Upon leveling up your character you will notice an “Add Class” button added to the top right of your level up box. baldurs gate 3 multiclass system

Once you click this button you with then select a second class. And you have a full choice from any of the 12 classes in the game. Meaning you can be a barbarian/wizard. Or a Rogue/Ranger, or any other fun combination you can think of.

How Do Multiclass Levels Work?

The only downside to Baldur’s Gate 3 Multiclassing is that you cannot reach the full potential of both of the classes you choose. The max level of the game is 12, so you only have 12 levels to spend, and must choose if that all goes into 1 class, or spread into multiple. bg3 multiclass levels

For example, if you’re not sure between a paladin or a warlock and want to multiclass, you can only spend those 12 levels, so you have to choose how much of each class you take on. Each level you choose where to spend that level, so you either make your paladin abilities stronger, unlocking new holy magic and melee abilities. Or you make your warlock side stronger unlocking new dark magic and spells.

Just be aware that you will not be able to reach the full ability of one class. However by dipping into different classes you can get some very strong and overpowered builds.
