What are FFXIV Grand Companies:

Grand companies are guilds that work within the 3 major city-states, you must choose to join one as part of the Main Story around main story level 20:

Maelstrom – Limsa Lominsa

Order of the Twin Adders – Gridania

Immortal Flames – Ul’Dah

Its important to note that your grand company does not impact the story or your relationships with the major characters. You can change your grand company too so don’t worry about being trapped, the only big reason for your grand company is that it dictates where you will go to perform your tasks.

Some people pick the grand company in a city they like the most, other pick Gridania because its grand company is the closest to an aetherite teleport and others just go with the colours they like the best.

Check this guide if you do want to change your grand company

What are the Grand Company Ranks:

It doesn’t matter what grand company you choose, as all ranks are the same. So check this breakdown in our FFXIV Grand company guide:

You will also need a ton of company seals on top of these requirements, around 45,000 in total.

How to get Company Seals:

You will also need a ton of company seals on top of these requirements, around 45,000 in total.

The best way to get company seals is with expert deliveries, but you don’t unlock these until Sergeant Second Class, so this starts super slow. You can earn seals from all grand company quests and leves and the grand company hut log.

gc hunt log Note that you must complete ranks of the grand company hunt log to progress past Sergeant Third Class So you should focus on handing in grand company leve’s and completing the grand company hunt log. Once you hit Sergeant Second Class, this becomes much faster as you unlock expert deliveries.

Expert Deliveries allow you to trade in old gear for seals. By running dungeons and your daily roulettes, you can rack up considerable seals and get promoted super fast with no real cap on how much you can earn.

Rewards for ranking up:

There are a ton of rewards for ranking up your grand company so I won’t list every single item you can buy, but the main things to be excited for are below:

First Mount – Unlocked as part of the quest “My first chocobo” for 200 grand company seals.

Squadron Missions – Ranking up allows you to unlock your squadron, a small team that you can rank up and level. This lets you do dungeons with them and get unique buffs and rewards.

Emotes – For completing 10 squadron missions you unlock 4 emotes; squat, push-up, sit-up, breath control.

Unique items – Your grand company armour, weapons, cosmetics and housing items

Material Containers – At Captain rank you can purchase material containers 3.0 and 4.0, which can obtain a random mount or minion from ARR, Heavensward or Stormblood. so can be amazing place to spend your company seals.
