In this guide on how to make steel in Mortal Online 2, we’ll explain the full process from mining to refining steel. We’ll explain the extraction process, and the lores you need and then bring it all together so that you can make and strongest metal in Mortal Online 2.
Before we get into this, just know that the amount of professional points needed to create every part of the steel-making process will leave you with very little to craft. So it’s worth deciding if you want to just craft a part of the steel product and then armor/weapons, or be a full steel crafter.

Mining For Steel
To craft steel you need to mine 3 different types of rock to refine them into steel. You can just buy these from the broker, but given you need a lot and mining is only a secondary skill, it’s very cheap to mine them. Here are the 3 resources you need to mine:
- Granum – a grey rock around most cities. Granum is everywhere and against most mountains.
- Calx – a white rock that usually forms around rivers, easy to get south of Fabernum
- Saburra – A brown rock found in dry areas.
For locations of all mining areas, check out the Mortal Online 2 map and filter by specific mining types that you are looking for. These are all the things you need before learning how to make steel in Mortal Online 2

Once you have all of the ores, it’s time to start refining all of them down into steel. Here is the process:
- Crush Granum in the crusher outside of town – to obtain blood ore.
- Grind Saburra in the grinder outside of town – to obtain Saburra power
- Crush Calx in the crusher outside of town – to obtain Calx power and coal.
- Extract Coal in a furnace to make Coke.
- Combine blood ore + Coke in the furnace – to obtain pig iron.
- 385 coke as catalyst per 10,000 blood ore
- Combine pig iron, coke, and calx power in the refiner to make grain steel
- refined as 2:1:1 – pig iron:coke: calx power.
- Combine grain steel, coal, and saburra power in a refiner to make steel
- refine as 2:1:1 – grain steel:coal: saburra powder.
All of these steps need to be completed to make steel. But you can skip these steps if you buy products, such as coke, coal, and blood ore on the broker.
Check out this resource for more information on rocks, refining, and minerals and how to refine them if any of this is confusing or you want to better understand how the different materials are refined.
What Lores do I need To Make Steel
Unfortunately Learning how to make steel in Mortal Online 2 is very punishing in terms of professional points, as it requires such a high amount of skills, primaries, and skill books. You can read a lot of these books in Haven and level your skills there, but not everything. So let’s break down all the skills you will need for steel making, primaries in red, secondaries in green:

This includes everything you need to get steel at full yield. However, every time you process a mineral, such as a granum, you get by-products and if you want them to sell, you need the lore for that too. For Example, granum also produces granum powder, flakestone, and amarantum, so increasing your lore with these by-products increases their yield, resulting in more money in the long run.
Can You Make Steel In Haven?
No. Steel is a very intense process that requires minerals and catalysts from all around the world. The best you can create in Haven is pig iron, cuprum, or flakestone. Check out our Mortal Online 2 two-handed weapon guide for more information on the best weapons you can make in Haven.
