FFXIV Astrologian Guide
Class Intro:
In this FFXIV Astrologian Guide, we aimed to cover the basics of the class with a few helpful tips along the way.
Astrologian is one of the four healer classes in FFXIV. This healer class is a regen healer which is based around stars and cards. Astrologian is focused on buffing party members and being prepared for incoming damage with their healing abilities.
Arcana Gauge
The Astrologian Arcana Gauge is based on the card system. When you draw and play a card, that card gets added to the Arcana Gauge. Once you have played three cards, you will now be able to use Astrodyne. Astrodyne unlocks at level 50.
Since there are different sign types the amount of different sign types can give you a different outcome of Astrodyne.
1 Sign type will grant you Harmony of Spirit.
2 Sign types will grant you Harmony of Spirit and Harmony of Body
3 Sign types will grant you Harmony of Spirit, Harmony of Body, and Harmony of Mind.
All of these outcomes will be buffing your character which will last for 15 seconds.
Harmony of Spirit will gradually restore your MP.
Harmony of Body will reduce spell cast time, recast time, and auto-attack delay.
Harmony of Mind will increase your damage dealt and healing.
To make the most out of your Arcana Gauge you will want to aim to obtain 3 different sign types each time by using redraw. However, you will want to prioritize using all of the cards that are available to you to be able to use Astrodyne as much as you can.
What are the Astrologian cards?
The main Astrologian cards that are used with the Arcana Gauge and Astrodyne are for buffing party members.
When it comes to the Arcana Cards some will give a bigger buff to certain party members over others. This is split by Ranged and Melee, three cards will give a bigger buff to ranged and a small buff to melee while the other three cards will give a bigger buff to melee and a small buff to ranged.
A good way to tell the Ranged from the Melee is that the Ranged has a purple outline while the Melee has a blue outline, once the card is in the Arcana Gauge.
Draw – Draw a card into your Arcana Gauge, stacks up to two charges
Play – Play the card you currently have selected in your Arcana Gauge
Redraw – Redraw the current card you currently have selected in your Arcana Gauge
Undraw – Place the card that you currently have selected in your Arcana Gauge back into the deck
The Bole and The Balance are both Solar cards
The Spire and The Spear are both Celestial cards
The Ewer and The Arrow are both Lunar cards.
Minor Arcana – This action is used to draw and play your Minor Arcana card
Lord of Crowns – AoE damage (sword)
Lady of Crowns – AoE heal (wings)
Astrologian Key Spells and Abilities
Astrologian has a lot of unique abilities compared to the other healers in FFXIV, some require preparation and time before doing the maximum amount of healing that ability can do.
Lightspeed – Reduces cast time for spells for 15 seconds.
Synastry – Cast on a party member, casting a single target healing spell on another party member will grant the synastry party member 40% of the healing from the spell.

Astrodyne – Uses 3 signs from the Arcana Gauge to grant you a buff that lasts 15 seconds.
Horoscope – Activate Horoscope then cast Helios or Aspected Helios, you can then use Horoscope again for a second AoE heal on all nearby party members.

Earthly Star – Ground target ability, can instantly be used, giving off damage to nearby enemies and a small heal to nearby party members. However, waiting 10 seconds before triggering the star will deal more damage and a larger heal.
Macrocosmos – Will deal damage to nearby enemies, when activated again it will restore the lost HP of all nearby party members that they have taken in that time.
Swiftcast – Next spell will not require to be casted

Surecast – Spells casted in this time cannot be interrupted, and also prevents knockbacks
Lucid Dreaming – Gradually restores MP for the next 21 seconds
Esuna – Remove a debuff from your target (DoT, Doom, etc)
Repose – Put your target to sleep
Revive (Ascend) – Resurrects your target to a weakened state
Astrologian Rotation
When it comes to Astrologian’s rotation in FFXIV, it is more about what to use when and to follow ABC, Always Be Casting. Your main attack is Malefic, unless there is a cluster of enemies then use Gravity, your AoE attack. To make the most out of your DoT, Combust, always keep it ticking and refresh once it is about to time out.
More specifically for Astrologian’s you want to use as many cards as possible to keep buffing your party members, same goes for the Lord and Lady cards. Since it is a 50/50 if you are going to get a free heal or damage AoE without using a global cooldown.
Weaving is a very important part of Astrologian but is mainly used in Endgame and DPS checks. Basically weaving other abilities between your GCDs, for example, casting a malefic between drawing and playing a card so you don’t miss out on a GCD.
Try to make the most of all of your tools and healing kit, and don’t be afraid to use Celestial Opposition and Collective Unconscious on cooldown to give your tank an extra regen on pulls. Some healing spells are good to keep off cooldown like Earthly Star, as it also does AoE damage to nearby enemies.
Astrologian Materia - Stat Priority
When it comes to melding materia, astrologian is a bit different compared to the other healers due to their lack of damage. So when it comes to best in slot we advise to meld spell speed. However, crit and direct hit are always safe to meld.
If you are looking to find best in slot guides with gearing and materia melding for savage and ultimates, we recommend joining The Balance discord as they have multiple different types of builds to suit you.
