What are Helltides?

Helltides in Diablo 4 is a special event that can randomly occur anywhere in Sanctuary. They usually take up two sections of the map, and will last 60 minutes. These can be identified on the map with a ‘The Helltide Rises’ icon and the affected map areas are highlighted in red.

How to unlock Helltides in Diablo 4

To unlock the Helltides and participate in the events, players must first unlock World Tier 3: Nightmare difficulty as Helltides do not spawn in Tier 1 and 2.

To be able to enter World Tier 3: Nightmare difficulty, you need to reach level 50 and completed the required dungeon.

Helltides Rewards and Currency

While in the Helltide event zones, you will come across Aberrant Cinders. These are the currency that is used to unlock chests that also spawn in the Helltide areas.

Aberrant Cinders can be obtained by defeating monsters, elites, taking part in events, and interacting with the open world.

You will lose half of your Aberrant Cinders if you die while in the zone.

All Aberrant Cinders will be removed from all players once the event has ended.
Helltides Diablo 4 rewards

The Aberrant Cinders are spent on opening different Tortured Gifts around the Helltide event areas. Tortured Gifts will drop gear pieces, including Legendary, Crafting Materials, Cosmetic items, and Elixirs.
