Shadow Hunter Rogue Build - Diablo 4
We have put together a Shadow Hunter Rogue Build in Diablo 4 and here is a full complete guide on how we put this build together, the aspects we used, skill tree abilities, and paragon board.
Shadow Hunter Gameplay and Playstyle
Shadow Hunter Rogue is based around speed and using a Shadow Imbued crossbow as the main weapon. Another big part of this build is that there is a lot of energy regeneration so you won’t have to rely on using Basic Skills, putting points into this part of the tree is only to unlock the core skill, Rapid Fire, for the main attack.
Stats and Enchantments for Shadow Hunter
When gearing up, the best items to look out for are those that contain some of the following:
- Critical Strike Chance
- Critical Strike Damage
- Ultimate Skill Damage
- Core Skill Damage
- Imbuement Skill Damage
- Imbued Skill Damage
- Cooldown Reduction (Ultimate and Imbuement Skills)
- Attack Speed
- Movement Speed
Rogue Legendary Aspects
There are a few good Legendary Aspects that helps make this build strong, but it’s always good to have a few defensive legendary aspects too. Here are three good defensive legendary aspects that makes the build feel a lot tankier.

When obtaining Aspect of Repeating, we recommend placing this on your 2H Weapon, crossbow. This is because the percentages will double when on a 2H Weapon, so imprinting this aspect onto a crossbow would go from 45% to 90%.
Similar for the Aspect of Imitated Imbuement, placing this aspect onto an amulet will add 50%, making the 16% into 24%. We also recommend taking Aspect of Corruption, which is also good on amulets.

Diablo 4 Unique Items
The best unique to take with this build is Grasp of Shadows, as this gives additional shadow clone damage. The aspect that makes this Unique is a lucky hit, 20-30% chance to summon a shadow clone. This unique works really well with the Aspect of Imitated Imbuement as it allows shadow clones to also mimic imbuements with abilities.
Other Possible Uniques
Another really good unique for this build is Penitent Greaves, this unique leaves a trail of frost behind you that chills enemies, it’s not necessary for the build but the additional movement speed makes the build pretty fun.
Best Gems for Rogue
Another Gem you could try is Diamond into the weapon or armour slot. Placing the Diamond Gem into the weapon slot gives additional ultimate skill damage and if you decided to go for the barrier aspect, Conceited Aspect, the barrier generation from the diamond gem in the armour slot could work really well.

Class Specialization (Shift+C)
The best specialization to take for this Shadow Hunter Rogue build is the Preparation specialization. As this build is really strong when activating your ultimate ability ‘Shadow Clone‘ what Preparation does is whenever you spend 100 energy, it will reduce your ultimate skill’s cooldown by 4 seconds. Then once you use your Ultimate ability it will reset the cooldowns of all your other skills.
Why Preparation?
This way, going into a fight you can have Shadow Imbuement already activated, giving you two auto attacks, then activate it again during the fight, then the cooldown fully resets once you activate your Ultimate Skill. This gives you 6 total rapid fire shadow imbuement attacks, plus the additional 2 attacks from your shadow clone dealing heavy damage.
Rogue Paragon Board
Paragon Board Glyphs
The best Glyphs to look out for are the following:
Ranger – For every 5 dexterity, marksman skills deal increased damage and wielding a ranged weapon, you take 10% reduced damage.
Diminish – You take 10% reduced physical damage from Vulnerable enemies and bonus to all rare nodes within range (great for board 2)
Efficacy – Imbuement skills effects have x20% increased potency, also grants a bonus to all rare nodes within range (Eldritch Bounty Board)
Bonus Paragon Board Glyphs
As this build does not have access to all of the available paragon points, we’d also recommend these Glyphs:
Fluidity – casting an agility skill, you gain x9% increased energy regeneration for 6 seconds, also grants a bonus to all magic nodes’
Combat – Core skills deal increased Critical Strike Damage for every 5 intelligence, also skills that critically strike restore 12% of their energy cost.
Paragon Boards
The Paragon Boards we decided to take were No Witnesses and Eldritch Bounty, we will update the paragon board once obtained all paragon points but from here we would go into Exploit Weakness.
Starting Board:
Prime > Socket Ranger Glyph > Lawless > Gate
No Witnesses:
Training > Socket Diminish Glyph > Fleeting > Legendary Node > Gate
Eldritch Bounty:
Imbuer > Legendary Node > Ready Supply > Socket Efficacy Glyph > Potent > Dosage
Going the No Witnesses Legendary means increased damage for both you and your ultimate skill for 20 seconds, which is a great combo for Shadow Clone.
The Eldritch Bounty Board is great for making your Imbuements and Imbued skills stronger. The Legendary Node gives both 20% Resistance and 20% increased damage for that imbuement’s element for 6 seconds when using an imbued skill.
The board also has additional imbued buffs such as damage increased and cooldown reduction which is really important for this build. The Efficacy bonus to all rare nodes overlaps with Potent and Dosage so leveling up the Glyph will also make these rare nodes stronger.
