At first, we thought that we were so eagerly waiting for autumn because of the boring heat – the cool weather would come sooner!
But then we realized that our inner fashionista is happy about the approach of the new season. And, yes, she has good reasons to love autumn: one of them is the update of the shoe collection.
Reason 1: Layering
Let’s be honest and say it right away: layering is officially our favorite style trick! It’s the multiple layers of clothing (shirt, vest and jacket, transparent maxi skirt and knitted mini on top) that make looks complex in a good way: voluminous, unusual. And we can only pull this trick off in the fall!
It’s obviously hot in the summer. In the winter, due to the strong temperature difference between home and outside, it’s hard to warm up in several layers – it’s easier to throw on a sweater and jacket or a down jacket and an office shirt.
In the spring, by the way, you can experiment with layering again, but with each passing day the sun gets hotter and hotter – again, it becomes uncomfortable to wear two or three layers of clothing. But fall… Fall is a completely different matter.
Dressing in layers during this period is strategically important: if it gets hot, you can take off the top layer in the form of a leather jacket or an oversized jacket. If it gets cold, you can put it back in place. Plus, you can easily extend the life of your favorite loafers or demi-season boots – just wear them with high gaiters! This, by the way, is a powerful trend of 2023.
Why do we want to wear autumn shoes as long as possible? Because they usually combine stylish design and thoughtful technology. In the summer, to survive the heat, we wear flip-flops and sneakers, in the winter we choose boots that will win the battle with reagents.
But autumn is the time for stylish and comfortable shoes that just beg to be included in multi-layered outfits: preppy loafers, biker boots with rivets, comfortable ankle boots… Not an image, but a picture from Pinterest!
Reason 2: Light-Colored Shoes
Another luxury that our autumn wardrobe allows us is light-colored shoes. How luxurious they look! And no, white slippers or sneakers are not the same thing: summer models made of textile or plastic will certainly refresh your look*, but they still don’t look as classy and impressive as urban ankle boots or leather shoes.
The point is in the noble texture of such shoes: the matte iridescence of high-quality leather a priori looks expensive. And if you also choose classic versions of the same ankle boots and shoes, you will get a real long-term investment in your wardrobe – these “high society” pairs will not let you down.
This trick, by the way, formed the basis of the SCULPTED line from the ECCO brand: designers worked with both smooth and unusual textured leather, and in some models they even combined different materials to emphasize their texture and quality.
Add a contrasting sole and a soft, rounded toe to these white leather ankle boots, and you’ve got yourself the investment shoe that urban fashionistas are after.
As the seasons change, adding a touch of thrill indoors can be fun too, like trying your luck with online casino real money games at Bizzo Casino for an exciting autumn night.
Reason 3: Complex Looks
The multi-layered looks are just one of the manifestations of complex outfits. There are a few more tricks that make your looks more interesting and original, for example, a mix of different textures and different styles.
Here’s a cool option: a leather midi skirt, a knitted turtleneck and a thicker jumper tied on the shoulders, plus textured boots. This outfit will never be erased from your memory!
That’s why in autumn we always sincerely advise you to step out of your comfort zone and take a closer look at unusual shoes. We’ve already taken note of glossy block heels. Add a knitted sweater, a fringed hobo or a metallic baguette bag – now that’s a combo!
Reason 4: The Perfect Time for Heels
As paradoxical as it may sound, autumn is the best time for heels. The logic is the same: you can’t run around in stilettos in the summer heat (it’s uncomfortable), and heels and ice are also not the smartest idea.
There are two seasons left: late spring and the whole autumn. Moreover, in the latter case, the heel is also strategically justified: the shoes get dirty less, since they are higher above the ground.
We are big fans of stable heels like kitten heels, “shot glasses” and blocks – the latter, of course, are more reliable. If you choose a pair that matches all the parameters of your foot, you will not feel any load from the heels, but this detail will change your image by 100%.
Reason 5: Preppy Nostalgia
Another reason to love autumn is the preppy style. On the one hand, fashion bloggers seem to have caught the virus codenamed “Blair Waldorf” and are churning out Gossip Girl-inspired looks one after another. On the other hand, the preppy aesthetic will never go out of style – it’s a classic that can and should be customized for yourself.
You can start with popular combinations like pleated skirts, shirts with leather jackets, and loafers with leg warmers.
Or you can go further and try on a leather sundress with a milky turtleneck, and add high boots with the same “peeping out” leg warmers. It would seem that there is nothing complicated, but the combo looks fresher than the notorious pleated mini!
In general, don’t be afraid to combine outerwear and shoes made of leather of different textures. Matte and glossy surfaces will create a very interesting tandem if you choose the rest of the elements in classic styles.
So now is the time to wear your favorite pantsuit with a leather jacket and patent leather shoes – this is what we call “big city style”!
